Perennial Salvias: The Fall Garden |
Come learn about the plants in the display herb gardens that really like to show-off during the fall season: the perennial salvias. This class will include a tour of the perennial salvias section in the garden, followed by a discussion of the many varieties, including how to grow and use them in your garden. Each participant will choose four (4) gallon-size salvias ($32 retail value) to then carry home and plant in their garden! Choose from pineapple sage, Mexican Bush sage, bog sage (or "ugly" sage!), salvia "Hot Lips", black & blue sage, and various other varieties! |

Back by Popular Demand “Stevia: The Sweetest Herb of the Garden” Class |
Sip herbal teas, sweetened with stevia, while Lisa discusses the history, cultivation, harvest, and uses for this herb known as the “sugar herb.” Anyone interested in cutting their sugar intake (diabetics, dieters, vegans and natural-food lovers) should attend this class. Each participant will receive the book: Stevia: Naturally Sweet Recipes for Desserts, Drinks, and More by Rita Depuydt ($14.95 value), a white porcelain spice jar filled with ¼ oz. of pure stevia (90% steviaside extract) white powder ($5.95 value), and a 1 gal.-potted stevia herb plant ($7 value). |

"National Herb Day Celebration" Class |
Did you know that the second Saturday of every October is "National Herb Day"? Well it is! And we will be celebrating accordingly. Come have a Picnic Basket lunch at 12 noon, which will include chicken salad (or pasta salad for the vegetarians), a basil-black pepper biscuit, fresh seasonal fruit salad, herbal cookies and herbal teas. Then listen to a line-up of guest speakers discussing various herbal topics, including aromatherapy, herbal supplements, the Herb Society of Wake County, and medicinal herb gardening (presented by Lisa). After class you will have the opportunity to ask questions/discuss topics with the speakers and be the first to browse through the rental library being set up at The Little Herb House. Class fee includes a four-week check-out of up to three (3) books you find interesting and informative (the library will officially "open" in March 2009.) So come celebrate "National Herb Day" at The Little Herb House! |

"Dried/Faux Holiday Table Centerpiece" Class |
Let's make a beautiful centerpiece for your holiday table! Lisa will guide you in making this holiday arrangement using dried and preserved greenery, such as cedar, juniper, magnolia, salal, sweet annie, etc. and dried flowers such as cockscomb, lavender, Silver King artemesia and yarrow. Then we will add faux berries, holly, gourds, pumpkins, various pods, cones and spices (pine cones, magnolia pods, lotus pods, cinnamon sticks, etc.) to the finished arrangement. Here's the best part - you will leave with a beautiful centerpiece to be used for your fall/Thanksgiving decor, and also leave with interchangeable materials to convert your centerpiece into a Christmas theme for December! All you need to bring is your favorite basket, container or pottery* to make the arrangement in - if you don't have anything, don't worry - you may purchase a basket from The Little Herb House! |

The afternoon tea will be served beginning at 1:00 p.m. In addition, you will receive a complimentary copy of The Tea House Times™, a Victorian, Afternoon Tea Publication, and we will play Tea Bingo for many complimentary door prizes!

class/workshop fee! Three or more classes, take a “Frequent Herb House Herbie” 15% discount!

The Little Herb House reserves the right to cancel any class due to low registration. If classes are cancelled, you will receive a full refund, or you may choose to apply your refund to a future class. If you are unable to attend a class that you have pre-registered for, a Little Herb House gift card will be issued in the amount of the missed class fee (less any % discount that was taken).
