Welcome to Fall! This has always been my favorite season. I love everything about it – the refreshing brisk temperatures,
the revival of the garden, pumpkins, scarecrows, apples, harvest, colorful leaves . . . I could go on and on! One event that takes
place during this season is the State Fair. Now, let me say, I am not too crazy about throwing away money on the midway with the
rides, games, etc. But I do love the old-fashioned farm side of the Fair. With the girls being the ages they are, I haven’t been able to
spend much time in the “farm” areas over the past years! (Last year, Sarah talked me in to riding this contraption where the floor drops
out and you spin around, with gravity holding you to the sides. Just speaking of it makes me feel sick again!) But, this year I was
actually able to sneak away for a couple of days, while the girls were in school, and take some time to enjoy the simple, old-fashioned
Fair! The main reason for going was that I did three demonstrations in the Flower & Garden Show area about herbs. Thought I would
share a few photos with all of you!

After October’s events, The Little Herb House will start preparations for the holiday season!! I would like for each of you to mark

Susan Wittig Albert
www.mysterypartners.com/China/
The China Bayles Herbal Mysteries is a series of fictional mysteries about an
herbalist, China Bayles, who abandoned her career as a hot-shot Houston criminal attorney to buy an herb shop
in a small town located half-way between Austin and San Antonio, Texas. China wants the things that many
contemporary women seek: a quieter life, rewarding work, a close relationship, friends, and community.
Each of her mysteries has a signature herb that is connected to a major theme, and each is liberally sprinkled
with information on growing and using herbs. The China Bayles novels have been praised for their intelligent plots,
quirky and appealing characters, interesting settings, and strong writing.
Sound fun?!? I think so, and I am very excited to start this new Herbal Library Club
at The Little Herb House! Look for all the details in the next newsletter!

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
2 a time to be born and a time to
die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
12 I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live.
13 That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil—this is the gift of God.
Herbally yours,
Lisa
That’s all for this issue! Until next time, “Find a way, to enjoy herbs every day.”
