Class MR13 Type: Craft Melt & Pour Soap Making & Soap Painting |
Learn the basics of melt-and-pour soap making using natural, vegetable glycerin soap. This class will cover how to melt, how to measure amounts of soap base, color and fragrance, soap-painting, how to unmold and other tips to this technique. Each participant will make a bar of Easter-egg soap, using the painting techniques taught, to take home and enjoy for the Spring season. Glycerin soap bases, molds, colorings and fragrance oils will be available for purchase. |

This class comes just in time to replace your holiday/winter wreath with a fresh, new spring wreath! Wreath design will start with an 20-inch birch base, upon which you will add natural and faux materials. Choice of materials will include lavender, larkspur, forsythia, pussy willow, faux eggs and nest, and other dried herbs and flowers. Come ready to create, and leave with a beautiful spring wreath - designed by you! |

2010 Herb-of-the-Year: Dill Class
|
The 2010 Herb-of-the-Year is Dill! Have you experienced a not-so-successful harvest of dill- wonder why your dill never produces enough to really use? Come attend this class to learn how to grow an abundant crop of dill, get recipes to use dill, learn about herbal lore & legends, and many other uses for this herb-of-the-year! You will receive a hand-out of useful information of the history, cultivation, medicinal uses, culinary uses, etc. of dill, as Lisa gives an in-depth discussion of this information. Then each attendee will make a "Lemon Dill" Seafood Rub to take home and enjoy ($8 retail value). You will also receive a packet of dill seed for planting ($3 value), and a bar of Cucumber-Dill kitchen soap made with pure essential oil of dill! ($5 value). |

Herbs are fun!! And growing your own herbs takes you on a wonderful adventure to delight your senses. Whether you are interested in growing herbs in a container, in a small kitchen garden (how I started), or alongside your vegetables, this class will be a fun-filled way to begin! Class time will be equally divided into hands-on teaching in the herb garden, and a classroom Question & Answer session. Class fee includes your choice of four (4) 3.5 to 4-inch potted herb plants. Add $15.00 to your class fee and we will include your own copy of the fantastic gardening book by Gayla Trail - You Grow Girl. |

Interested in essential oils and aromatherapy? Then this class is for you. First hour, Lisa will discuss the pathways thru which essential oils enter our body and affect us, and the ten most common essential oils and their specific properties. Then the last half-hour each participant will make a 10-ounce bath salt and a 4-ounce spray mist, using your choice of either lavender or lemon verbena essential oil. Come out for a fun class filled with herbal aromas . . . aromatherapy at its best! |

Have you often thought about making your own medicinal herbal treatments, but didn't know where to begin? Well, begin with this course! This is an intermediate herbal class designed to kick-off a series of lectures & herbal medicine-making demonstrations based on the book, The Herbal Medicine-Maker's Handbook, by James Green. Course fee will include this book (required for each lecture) and eight (8) sessions. Required reading of 2-4 hours/week.
Topics covered will include: Introduction Equipment, Extraction & Solvents Preparations, Infusions & Decoctions Hydrosols & Bach Essences Tinctures Wines, Vinegars, Glycerin & Oils Ointments, Salves & Creams Syrups, Honeys, Bath & Misc.

If classes are cancelled, you will receive a full refund (less any % discount that was taken), or you may choose to apply your refund to a future class. If you are unable to attend a class that you have pre-registered for, a Little Herb House gift card will be issued in the amount of the missed class fee (less any % discount that was taken).
