The 2008 Herb-of-the-Year is Calendula. Come attend this one-hour class if you would like to learn more about this herb and how to use it! You will receive a hand-out of useful information of the history, cultivation, medicinal uses, culinary uses, etc. of calendula, as Lisa gives an in-depth discussion of this information. Then each attendee will make a Calendula Facial Mask to take home and use ($8 retail value). You will also receive a tube of lip balm (choice of peach, mint or lemon/honey) containing calendula flower extract ($4 value), 4-inch potted calendula plant ($3 value), and 2 ounces of dried calendula ($5 value) to use for culinary and medicinal purposes. This class will be held during the Spring Open House - you may also order a boxed picnic lunch to have before the class. Register below. |

Tea Hibiscus Class |
Would you like to grow tea hibiscus and make your
own herbal hibiscus tea? The Little Herb House will be offering
a class on Saturday, May 24, 2008, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Lisa
Treadaway, owner of The Little Herb House herb farm in southern
Wake County, will teach attendees how to cultivate, harvest and
dry, and make herbal teas from
Hibiscus sabdariffa. Class fee
includes two Hibiscus sabdariffa plants, a handout of
information and recipes on using the plant, a two-ounce bag of
dried hibiscus tea, organically grown at the herb farm, and
Lisa's 'Iced Hibiscus Cooler' and hibiscus jelly scones for
refreshment.

Culinary
Adventure Day
Pamela Clark graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. degree in
Foods and Nutrition. She has performed cooking schools across
the East Coast for Homemakers Schools, Inc. As a caterer in
Boston & Baltimore, she specialized in party planning and
cocktail parties for 100. Upon her arrival to Raleigh in 2002,
Pam began a new venture in consultant work and recipe
development for Kateri’s Fresh Herbs (freshherbs.com).
Through cooking demonstrations and classes, Pam represents all of the Ferguson Kitchen & Bath/Stock Building Supply showrooms as their Company Chef. She teaches cooking classes at Williams Sonoma and offers classes in a variety of other locations throughout the Triangle. The Thyme Savor also does cooking class parties as a unique party concept.
As a custom caterer, Pam wants her clients to savor the moment
as well as the food!

This interactive class will be an opportunity to not only learn
about cooking with herbs, but to jump right in and assist Pam!
She loves for her clients to feel comfortable enough to ask
questions and learn through hands-on participation. Recipes
will also be given out for your future culinary adventures!
Culinary Adventure Day will be a real treat, so register quickly
- seating is limited. This would also make a great gift for the
man in your life for Father's Day!

Registration for any class must be received one week prior to class date. And remember, if you
pre pre-register to attend two classes, you receive a “Frequent Herb House Herbie” 10% discount off each
class/workshop fee! Three or more classes, take a “Frequent Herb House Herbie” 15% discount off each class fees!!

The Little Herb House reserves the right to cancel any class due to low registration. If classes are cancelled, you will receive a full refund, or you may choose to apply your refund to a future class. If you are unable to attend a class that you have pre-registered for, a Little Herb House gift card will be issued in the amount of the missed class fee (less any % discount that was taken). All registrations must be received by The Little Herb House at least one (1) week prior to class date.
